Italy: creating a motivating and proactive learning environment to
answer to the students’ educational needs; increasing collaborative and
communicative skills among and with colleagues, students, stakeholders;
creating learning units aiming at having products made by the students
themselvesThe Istituto Comprensivo “Giuseppe Grassa” di Mazara del Vallo (Trapani)-Italy
is made up of a nursery school with 86 pupils and 4 classes, a primary
school with 180 students and 10 classes, a lower secondary school with 574
students and 25 classes. The school has a vertical curriculum. Students
study Italian, Maths, English, French
(only at the lower secondary school),
History, Geography, Art, Music, ICT, Science, PE, Citizenship,
RE. There are 90 teachers at the the Istituto Comprensivo “Giuseppe
Grassa”,
10 of them at the nursery school,
20 at the primary school and 60
at the lower secondary school.

Italy wants to take part in the project to improve the
school educational quality and effectiveness, promote the feeling of
belonging to the school and the active citizenship; encourage creativity
and innovation. Reaching all these goals will allow students to achieve
the following key competences:
digital competence, learning to learn
competence, entrepreneurship competence, cultural awareness and expression
competence.

Italy wants to participate in the K2 -
to get students to know an
international and multicultural context; -to improve students’ language
and communication skills in English; -to give learners the necessary
knowledge to promote appreciation of cultural diversity.
The people in
charge of running the project at the Istituto Comprensivo “Giuseppe Grassa”
di Mazara del Vallo

Italy are the headmistress, Miss Teresa Guazzelli, the secretary, Miss Rosa Maria Alba Valenti, the project
coordinator, Mrs Rosalia Arone and the teachers: Mrs Rosanna Chiarelli,
Mrs Maria Caime, Mrs Rosalia Bonura and Mrs Maria Cristina Perniciaro, 2
administrative assistants.
The Ministry of Education will replace the headmistress and the
secretary if they leave their post, while the headmistress will replace
the coordinator of the project and teachers with other members of the
school staff if they cannot run the K2 project.

The Istituto Comprensivo “Giuseppe Grassa” took part in The Comenius –
Accordo 2012 – 1 – DE 3 – Com 06 – 275004.
Concerning the k2 project the School wants to develop competences
in art, history of art, techniques and media production, in circulation
of images and sounds. The
Istituto Comprensivo “Giuseppe Grassa” will collaborate with museums, naturalistic sites ,public and private
authorities working in this area. The School also aims at developing
responsible behaviours stimulating the knowledge and respect of law,
environmental sustainability, cultural and landscape heritage. |
