INFORMATION ABOUT ECOLE MARCEL AYME - MILIZAC - FRANCE...

The level of the school: Our pupils are between two and eleven  years old. Next year, we’ll have  around 345 pupils, compared to 368 this year.

Our school is located in a rural area, not far from a bigger town (Brest), we believe that our pupils would profit from a European opening, as they tend to stay in a small area.

18  teachers,  7  teachers assistants for younger children   and   6  AVS (Help for pupils with disabilities) work in our school.

One of the main objectives of our school is  to get students to express themselves in French correctly by writing or speaking, with a particular emphasis in our school to improve their vocabulary.

Another one is that they learn how to solve mathematics problems concerning everyday issues.

We also wish that they acquire skills in all fields including English, science, history, geography and civic education in order to become enlightened and responsible citizens of the world.

We would like to be a part of this Erasmus plus project  to open our students' minds on the world and particulary on Europe and Poland.

As teachers, it would enable us to develop good practices from Poland and to bring a fresh look at our teaching. We are particularly keen on discovering how our fellow teachers manage to include pupils facing disabilities in their classes and schools.

Our school is really well endowed numerically. We have Interactive Digital Whiteboards  in each primary class. Pupils also have access to 15  laptops which can be used in class for research or word processing.

In 2017, three teachers have been in Dublin during two weeks to be trained to teach English using new technologies.

Some teachers (Mrs Le Deun and Mrs Rebuffat also) use  an “ENT” (online working environment)  in their classes : it's a website used by both teachers and pupils to write emails,  drop and share documents or lessons, consult homework...

46 children exchange letters with classes from abroad  : 24 with Poland and 22 with Florida.

Mrs Rebuffat did a letter exchange with New Hampshire in 2016 : it was an additional motivation for English learning and opening on the world for our pupils.

Mrs Le Deun didn't participate in the last Erasmus plus project but she wants to get involved more this year because she would like to pass an English abilitation this year.

Our school has an other specificity: there are many bilingual classes (breton language). All kindergarden pupils have an initiation to breton during four years.
