INFORMATION ABOUT ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO SALVO D'ACQUISTO - GAGGIO MONTANO - ITALY...
Our school “Istituto Comprensivo Salvo D’Acquisto” dates back
to1996 thanks to the unification of the levels of education, pre-school,
primary and secondary 1st grade, located in the territory of
Gaggio Montano, Lizzano in Belvedere and Castel D’Aiano.
The school operates in a socio-economic context that affects our
managing, organisational and educational choices:
- several schoolsarein villages that are distant from each other and
receive students coming from other small hamlets,
- schools of different grades have to followthe institutional educational
purposes and meet the need fordifferentiatedand specific education and
organisation,
- the foreign-born population has increasedand there’s a significant
turnover of foreign families, with the consequence of an additional
diversification in demands of educational needs,
- the necessity of cultural integration projects and literacy teaching for
students and the local community, resulting froma remarkable increase of
foreign students (about 15%),
- low socioeconomic status and high female unemployment rate due to the
national economical crisis, in particular due to the closure of several
factories in the local territory,
- decrease of the winter and summer tourism of the ski area“Corno alle
Scale”,
- remarkable commute to the city,
- particular isolation of students coming from the peripheral areas,
students with few opportunities of aggregation andsocialising experiences
outside their school routine.
The school is the only place that bringsstudents together, a safe
environment that obviates a scenarioof cultural deprivation with not many
recreational opportunities.
Our institute consists oftwelve plexuses distributed as follows:
